Sportika Gallagher Baseball Academy

Sportika Gallagher Baseball Academy Director: Nick Franke, Jr. Email

The Sportika Gallagher Baseball Academy was created to help each player reach his fullest potential both on and off the field. The full year schedule was designed to provide practice time on the field (indoor at Major and Mini Sportika/ Outdoor), indoor hitting, speed & agility training as well as strength & conditioning training provided by Parabolic, and the option of ongoing academic support  (tutoring) and college counseling provided by Brainstorm. Additionally, Sportika Gallagher Baseball Academy student-athletes will have access to our in-house recruiting service to provide marketing services and college placement support.

We teach the game of baseball at a high level but much of what we teach and expect will be life lessons that go hand in hand with becoming not only a great player but also a great human being. We prepare our student-athletes by developing and refining their athletic skills, and also focusing on delivering life-skills and mentoring curriculum throughout the season through our Sportika-Goodworx partnership.

We instruct the technical and mechanical aspects of becoming the best player you can be, and we also develop hard-working, self-disciplined, organized, confident, and caring athletes.

The Sportika Gallagher Baseball Academy includes teams from the ages of 8-17. High school age teams (14-17U) participate solely in fall and summer tournaments and winter training. Teams from 8-13U participate in USABL fall, spring and summer leagues as well as select tournaments. The focus at all age levels is development through practices run by a qualified, positive coaching staff. The high school age teams participate in showcase tournaments almost exclusively so we can expose our players to the road ahead of them and help them achieve playing at the next level, whatever that level may be.

Academy Mission Statement

Academy Mission Statement

Mission Statement

The Mission of Sportika baseball is to mold young men into hard working student athletes. We believe practice is the main proponent in this process. Many organizations simply put teams together and put them out on the field. Sportika creates a family environment by spending inordinate amounts of time together in the fall, winter and summer practicing to develop not only fundamentals and skills but mental toughness and fortitude only achieved by putting in countless hours of hard work. We not only are here to help our athletes get to the next level, but to have the best chance of success once they are there. Many of our coaches played at a high level and understand the pressures and requirements necessary to be successful. The hard truth is most of us are not lucky enough to play in the major leagues. Most ballplayers end up in the working world, and baseball is a phenomenal tool that can be used to prepare student athletes for the real world. Creating an environment that stresses accountability, communication, and work ethic is our idea of a successful travel baseball academy; not simply how hard a kid can throw a ball or how far he can hit it. We believe in the process, commitment to the process will eventually allow players to throw the ball harder and hit it farther and know how to use those tools.

Coaching Staff

Coaching Staff

Nick Franke, Jr.- Director of Baseball

A lover of baseball, Nicholas Franke Jr., has been involved in the sport for over 30 years. Nick started playing and practicing the sport at the young age of five. He developed his skill throughout elementary, middle school and high school playing for their respective teams. He pursued the sport in college where he played for two years. Nick has spent a lot of time the field playing and coaching baseball. He coached two years of high school baseball and has taught in numerous camps and clinics. Later, Nick used the skills he learned playing baseball and applied them towards his work with special needs children. Realizing the devotion, commitment, and patience learned from years of playing baseball helped with developing his skills and the skills of the children Nick taught. While teaching special needs children, Nick also ran the Titans Baseball Academy for twelve years. Nick has been on the field for 30 years playing and coaching baseball. He believes in hard work and training but also the love of the game.

Hello, parents of Sportika-Gallagher High School level baseball players. On Wednesday, August 22nd, we will be holding our 14th annual college showcase at our Sportika facility. Over the years, I have developed a strong relationship with many college coaches and professional scouts. I do not water down the event with hundreds of kids. Typically the number of players I accept will range from anywhere between 55 to 70 players. The number of schools is usually 20-30. This equation allows each individual athlete a fair shot at evaluation, without being swallowed up by larger numbers.

This event helped so many of our players in the past several years. You may remember that we did not build the cost of this event into your monthly cost due to the merger. Therefore, you will have to include a payment with your registration. In order to prepare player information packets, which will be handed out to all scouts/ coaches, we will accept the first 70 registrations which are paid in full no later than August 15th. Once we have all registrations in, we will email each participant a full detailed schedule for the day. Since the event is being held indoor at Sportika, no rain date is needed.

Below is a list containing schools who have consistently attended Gallagher showcases in the past.

– The College of NJ, Rowan, UNC Ashville, Mercer CC, Lehigh, Marist, Felician, Ocean CC, Rider, Pace, Rutgers, Wagner, Villanova, Lafayette, St, Johns, Alvernia, Cabrini, Delaware, Rutgers Camden, Monmouth, Seton Hall, Manhattan St, Joes, Kean, Caldwell, DeSales, FDU, Catholic.

Baseball News

Manalapan, N.J. (Nov. 30, 2017) – Sportika Sports and Gallagher Baseball announced today that their two baseball programs have officially merged to form Sportika Gallagher Baseball. The merger is an exciting development that fits perfectly into the Sportika mission to develop the student-athlete while also providing new opportunities for growth as an individual.

“As the Director of Baseball, I am excited for us to partner with Gallagher Baseball,” said Nick Franke, Jr. of Sportika. “Our collective game now is to continue to build the Sportika Gallagher brand into becoming the best program in New Jersey.”

Founded by Dave Gallagher, a nine-year Major League Baseball (MLB) veteran, the Dave Gallagher Baseball Academy has become a premier baseball learning academy in New Jersey. It has generated scholarships for its students totaling over $1,000,000 in tuition and professional contracts, all while showcasing a strong emphasis upon fundamentals, training and good sportsmanship.

“I am thrilled to be partnering with an organization that mirrors my passion of developing young student-athletes,” said Gallagher. “Sportika Gallagher offers long-term stability in a top of the line facility for New Jersey athletes.”

Gallagher himself played 17 years of professional baseball. He was originally drafted by the Oakland Athletics as the number three overall selection in the 1980 MLB January Draft (Regular Phase), which made him the highest drafted player ever from the State of New Jersey. He was then taken by the Cleveland Indians with the eighth overall pick in the 1980 MLB June Draft (Secondary Phase). After developing his game in the minor leagues, he eventually enjoyed a nine-year MLB career that included time with seven different clubs (Indians, White Sox, Orioles, Angels, Mets, Braves and Phillies).

“The future is bright for Sportika Gallagher Baseball,” said Jeffrey L. Jordan, Sportika CEO. “Nick Franke, Jr. has done a tremendous job this past year building our brand, and this merger with Dave Gallagher Baseball will only strengthen and accelerate our growth and stability. Sportika Gallagher’s goal is the become the best program in the state for the development of young baseball players, and student-athletes in general.”

Sportika Gallagher Baseball will be hosting tryouts this Saturday on the turf fields at Sportika Sports, which is located at 150 Woodward Road in Manalapan, New Jersey. Sessions will be run in the 7U to 17U age divisions, and tryouts are for new players only (current players do not need to attend).
